Boom, Bust, Recovery







Boom



1.)National Association Advancement of Color People (NAACP)
This is a picture of the NAACP Award to Denzel Washington. I chose this picture for Boom because this was an organization to promote full equality.

2.)Organized Crime
This is a picture of Organized Crime. I chose this picture because there were groups going around doing criminal activities like interstate theft, gambling, prostitution, and monetary profit.

3.)Installment Plan
This is a picture of the Installment plan. I chose this picture for the Boom period because it was the plan

4.)Teapot Dome Scandal
This is a picture of the Teapot Dome Scandal. I chose this because it was a corruption used by the U.S. Navy, one of Albert B. Fall’s secret leasing of oil rich public land to private companies in return for money and land.

5.)Bootleggers
This is a picture of Bootleggers. I chose this picture for this period because this was when people were sneaking alcoholic beverages during Prohibition in the U.S.

6.)Prohibition
This is a picture of Prohibition. I chose this picture because alcoholic beverages were banned from sales, manufacture, and possession during this period in the U.S.

7.)Scopes Trail
This is a picture of the Scopes Trail. I chose this picture because John T. Scopes was teaching evolution, which was against the Tennessee law and a sensational court case during this period.

8.)Flapper
This is a picture of a Flapper. I chose this picture to show how the creative young women who embraced the new fashions and urban attitudes looked.

9.)Sinclair Lewis
This is a picture of Sinclair Lewis. I chose this picture to give you a visual on how the first man to be awarded the Noble Prize in Literature looked; whose work was based on the critical views of American society and capitalist values.

10.)Bessie Smith
This is a picture of Bessie Smith. I chose this picture because she was a good influence on jazz vocalist and one of the greatest and most popular female blues singers in this time period.

Bust


1.)Credit

This is a picture of Credit. I chose this picture to give you a good example of the arrangement in which a buyer pays later for a purchase.

2.)Black Tuesday

This is a picture of Black Tuesday on a newspaper. I chose this picture because it was when stock prices fell down fast, in October 29, 1929, which was a major deduction.

3.)Great Depression
This is a picture of the Great Depression. I chose this picture because it was when the U.S. economy was in severe decline and unemployment.

4.)Dust Bowl
This is a picture of the Dust Bowl. I chose this picture to show how bad it looks and when the region was not made for farming cause of the drought and dust storms during this time.

5.)Direct Relief
This is a picture of Direct Relief. I chose this picture because it was when the government gave money or food directly to the needy people, which was a start to getting them back on their feet.

6.)Speculation
This is a cartoon picture of Speculation. I chose this picture because it was an involvement in risky businesses to make a quick or large profit, which fits this period.

7.)Bonus Army
This is a picture of the Bonus Army. I chose this picture because it was the march to demand payment of a bonus the WW1 veterans were promised for military service.

8.)Herbert Hoover

This is a picture of Herbert Hoover. I chose this picture because he was the 31st President of the U.S. who promoted government intervention under the rubric economic modernization.

9.)Dow Jones Industrial Average
This is a picture of Dow Jones Industrial Average. I chose this picture because it shows the measure based on the stocks prices of 30 large companies.

10.)Buying on Margin
This is a picture of the Buying of Margin. I chose this picture because it was the purchasing of stocks by paying only a small amount and borrowing the rest, which was a simple and more affordable way in getting things.






Recovery

1)FDIC
This is a picture of a FDIC sign that you see at banks. I picked this for recovery because it protected people from losses due to bank failures in their banking accounts, which made it more reliable again.

2.)New Deal
This is a picture of the New Deal. I chose this picture because it focus on the relief for the needy, economic recovery, and financial reform, this program was assigned by President Franklin Roosevelt to loosen the problems in the Great Depression.

3.)Social Security Act
This is a picture of the Social Security Act. I chose this picture because this is one of the important things we must have nowadays, that is a law to provide aid to retirees, unemployed, disability people, and families with dependent children.

4.)Tennessee Valley Authority (TVRP)
This is a picture of one of Tennessee Valley Authority. I chose this for recovery because it constructs dams and power plants to generate electricity and to prevent floods in the Tennessee Valley during this time period.

5.)Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO)
This is a picture of the Congress of Industrial Organization. I chose this picture because it was a labor organization composed of industrial unions.

6.)National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA)
This is a picture of the National Industrial Recovery Act. I chose this for recovery because it was a law to promote industrial growth and codes of fair practice for industries.

7.)Franklin Delano Roosevelt
This is a picture of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I chose this picture because he was the 32nd President of the U.S, during the Great Depression who created the New Deal.

8.)Richard Wright

This is a picture of Richard Wright. I chose this picture because he was a author whose work helped reduce discussions of race relations in American.

9.)Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
This is a picture of Securities and Exchange Commission. I chose this picture because it was created to monitor the stork market and enforce laws regulating the sale of stocks and bonds.

10.)Works Progress Administration (WPA)
This is a picture of the Works Progress Administration. I chose this picture because it provided the unemployed with jobs in construction, garment making, teaching, arts, and other fields.
